Today's Shoot...

I had a great photo shoot today with artist Alison Spain! She creates beautiful gigantic paintings and was kind enough to take some time off of working to accommodate my need for a model! Please be sure to check out her work here!

Silver Spoon...

Since I just did a post inspired by my mom, I thought I'd share a photo of some rings I made using some of her silverware as a stamping tool.

She was kind enough to give me some of her spoons that had been damaged in the garbage disposal and I used it to make a pattern in the clay...(no it wasn't my fault this time!)

I love the intricate patterns it left in the clay and am looking forward to making more! Thanks for the inspiration mom!

We had a blast down in Costa Rica and finally got our zip-lining photos from the photographer. I thought I'd share this photo of my mom (who's 65!) flying through the canopy. Look how tiny she looks! I've done some crazy things in the past, and my mom always yelled at me, so I was really surprised that she wanted try this. She looked so happy zipping around the rain forest- it's a afternoon I will remember for ever and ever!

In season...gold!

As a designer it's always a rush to introduce a new idea or concept... It's thrilling to show new pieces and collections to friends and customers. The responses, suggestions and feedback are so helpful and usually result in more new work!

The response to the summer line was fantastic, I sold almost everything I produced and I have little left to show for it... except photos! My little green succulents were so fun to make and seemed to make others smile when they saw them. Well, now it's time to move on! Fall is almost here and I'm happy to announce a new color and many new designs to the collection! If you get the notion- I'd love to hear feedback and suggestions... I will be posting the new collection beginning in September! So be sure to check back then!

In good times and in bad...

One of the wonderful lessons you learn about being in the craft community... if you reach out your hand in a time of need, someone will be there to grab it and pick you up! That's what many folks are trying to do right now for the Red Tread Studio, an art & craft studio and gallery space in Virigina.

Due to damage done by a neighboring building fire, the Studio is in need of monetary help to get back on their feet. You can also help in other ways, to find out how check out this blog by Design for Mankind

I love making things, unfortunately I have to stop making things once in a while to photograph them. While this is not my favorite activity, today was a great day in the "studio". I went over to my friend Shannon's house and found some really nice little spots to shoot my work in... the light was terrific and the results were thankfully worth the effort!
